This position is an entry to journey level Airport Fire Fighter; exists to provide Airport Maintenance Operations. Will provide some Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) services to the Grand Canyon National Park Airport as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)Duties include but are not limited to:Approximately 80% of time required to do airport maintenance operations:** Airport security; inspect and repair airfield lighting systems; signage; weed control and wildlife management; snow removal.** Facilities/housing maintenance such as property and building maintenance, inspections and repairs.** Occasionally provides first responder and firefighting services on any and all emergencies to outlying areas around and near the airport and assists the National Forest fire emergencies. ** Responsible for other airport operational duties as assigned. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience as a professional rescue/structural firefighter; have a current EMT-B certificate. PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS• Employment is contingent upon passing a medical/physical examination and drug test. • Requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License at time of hire. • Emergency medical Technician Basic Certification (EMT-B)• Fire Fighter 2 Certification—State Marshall Office or the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Certification • Current CPR card. • Position requires possession of or ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Tanker endorsement prior to the twelfth (12) month of employment. Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
Additional Salary Information: Employee housing is available. A geographic stipend of $1,800 per year is provided for employees who reside at The Grand Canyon National Park Airport location.
