Maintains airport safety and compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations including Federal Air Regulation 139, the Airport Certification Manual, and other applicable rules and regulations. Conducts all required safety inspections and maintains records of discrepancies and corrective action taken, issuing notices to pilots, monitoring airfield maintenance conditions, wildlife activity, and other airfield activities to ensure the protection and safety of the aircraft operations area.
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
Conducts safety inspections of the airfield and ramp areas at least daily and more often as conditions warrant.
Reviews NOTAMs daily for accuracy and issues NOTAMS when necessary.
Represents Safety, Security & Compliance Administration at pre-construction meetings, acts as point of contact for CVG related to airfield or Federal Aviation Administration projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree in a related field to the area of assignment and five years of progressively responsible airport operations experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.
National Incident Management Systems Certifications (100-400, & 700-800).
FAA regulations concerning certification and operations of a commercial airport;
Reading and interpreting construction plans.
Clearly and effectively communicating, negotiating and advocating, both orally and in writing;
Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets;
Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.
Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
