The City of San Jose - Mineta San Jose International Airport is currently recruiting for a Senior Airport Equipment Mechanic.This position at is responsible for providing technical assistance on the most difficult installations and repairs requiring a high level of expertise on specialized airport terminal equipment and systems, such as passenger boarding bridges, carousels and baggage conveyors (slope plate and flat plate) and ground support equipment. This senior position acts as the lead to Airport Terminal Equipment Mechanics (ATEM) and provides work direction to other classifications, such as Maintenance Workers. The incumbent is expected to provide contract administration and inspects and oversees the work performed by outside contractors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the continued development of a program designed to meet the needs of the changing Airport environment. This position requires shift work and includes weekend coverage.
Education: Equivalent to completion of high school
Experience: Five (5) years of directly related journey-level experience with the operation, repair and maintenance of airport terminal equipment in an airport environment.
- Ability to obtain California Driver’s License
- A valid California Class A or B driver’s license with applicable endorsements may be required for some designated positions.
