Under the supervision of the Operations and Maintenance Manager, the Duty Manager is responsible for ensuring that each facet of the operation performs as intended, that the operation is staffed sufficiently with appropriately trained personnel - Supervisors, Coordinators, Controllers, Security and Utility Agents - and that employees are provided with proper training, tools, uniforms and other resources needed to carry out their duties. Related administrative tasks and other assigned duties are also performed. The position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment, as well as a creative approach to formulating responses and making recommendations regarding changes in company policy and/or procedures, as required. Operations are dynamic and situations may require immediate attention. This position has high exposure to the public and requires a professional approach and demeanor under all conditions. It also requires a genuine willingness to assist persons with a wide range of requests and needs.
Major Responsibilities and Functions:
Represent airport management in the absence of higher authority, particularly in contacts with federal agencies, airlines, the City, the travelling public and other Airport stakeholders, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of Concourses E and F and the common use facilities and equipment.
Supervise, schedule and coordinate the team of Supervisors – , Utility and Operations – responsible for the efficient operation and use of Concourses E and F, the DOA common use facilities at the North Terminal Ticketing/Baggage Facility.
Respond to aircraft accidents/incidents, security and other emergency situations; direct and coordinate related activities, implement emergency or security plan measures until relieved by proper authority.
Coordinate aircraft parking and gate assignments for diversions, emergencies and normal operation among tenants and other Airport users.
Establish work schedules and assign duties; review work for thoroughness and coordinate work with other departments and subcontractors.
Ensure that all applicable City ordinances, Airport rules and regulations and Company procedures are observed and properly followed during the performance of activities.
Train and evaluate the performance of Supervisors – , Utility and Operations, including the preparation of formal performance evaluations as well as informal feedback.
Maintain log of significant events that occur during shift, prepare reports and maintain records.
Periodically inspect facilities, record discrepancies and arrange for corrective action.
Ensure that City owned vehicles are properly maintained, that common-use structures and mechanical systems are in good repair and that housekeeping items reflect those of a world class facility.
Responsible for interacting with and maintaining positive relationships with DOA representatives and managers, CBP, the TSA, FAA and all partner airlines.
Actively participate in planning committees, operational meetings and customer service training
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
High School diploma or the equivalent.
Five years of progressively responsible experience, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity.
Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Skill in effective oral and written communication.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other TBI employees, airline employees, DOA staff and Customs and Border Protection officers, vendors, subcontractors and other airport stakeholders.
Through in-house training must be able to qualify for the following: performance of airport-related first aid, basic fire extinguisher training and all other Company procedures and programs.
Must be able to obtain an airport SIDA badge and Customs and Border Protection Seal.
