The Louisville Airport Authority is seeking motivated individuals for an Operations Specialist I position. This is an entry level position that manages the use of facilities at both of the Authority’s airports. Position assures continuous safety and security compliance with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Parts 77 and 139, Transportation Security Regulation (TSR) Part 1542, in addition to all other applicable statutes, regulations, and requirements. Duties include but are not limited to airfield/facilities inspections for unsafe or non-compliant conditions; monitor two-way radio communication, flight operations statuses, work order requests, security access control, CCTV systems etc. Additional duties are issuing airport ID media and providing fingerprinting services; implementing the Authority’s Snow/Ice Control Plan (SICP) and Wildlife Hazard Management Plan; supporting emergency responders during airport incidents; coordinating and monitoring airport construction activities; providing high levels of customer service in responding to questions and inquiries from the public, airport stakeholders, and/or governmental regulatory agencies.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Airport or Aviation/Aerospace Management, Aviation/Aerospace Science, Business or Public Administration, or closely related field combined with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in airport operations or administration, or in a position with direct aviation relevance is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to interact effectively with the public and all airport stakeholders. Prior experience with a Fixed Base Operator (FBO), airline, air cargo carrier, airfield maintenance, and/or airport emergency services, and possession of a Private Pilot Certificate is desirable. Candidates must be available for night, holiday, weekend, rotating, or irregular shift assignments.
