This position will work with our Senior Accountant for approximately 12-15 months until his projected retirement date, performing routine accounting functions. The role will then work with the Finance Director in preparation for assuming his position upon his retirement.
Senior Accountant Duties:
Preparing monthly financial statements and billings
Analyzing financial data and making recommendations
Reviewing capital expenditures and budget, including seeking reimbursement from government agencies
Provided the skills/knowledge demonstrated meet the position criteria, the candidate will gradually assume increased strategic and management duties in preparation for the transition to Director.
Evaluating/implementing fiscal policy
Implementing processes and maintaining records in conformance with GAAP
Analyzing financial operating results and providing summary data
Maintaining relationships to allow for coordination of PDA’s financial needs
Satisfying reporting requirements to government agencies
Coaching/mentoring/reviewing performance for accounting staff
Overseeing budget development activities/implementation
Developing/maintaining a property management system
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related field is required, a master’s degree in similar discipline preferred and a minimum of 8-10 years of directly related experience involving the administration of general accounting and financial reporting, payroll and business management, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Must be highly detailed with demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task
Ability to formulate, initiate and administer policies and procedures for effective fiscal control
Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to interact with a demanding leadership team
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel
Experience with Microsoft applications, Great Plains accounting software, and property management applications is preferred
Experience in Airport Operations is preferred.
CPA designation required in the State of New Hampshire
