The San Angelo Regional Airport (SJT) is a Part 139 commercial service airport in West Texas. SJT is serviced by American Eagle, and serves approximately 120,000 passengers each year. As an Airport Maintenance Technician, the successful candidate will conduct duties in accordance with the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Emergency Plan, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, and Airport Security Program in accordance with FAR Part 139 regulations, and TSAR 1540 & 1542 regulations. Duties include daily airfield inspections and making appropriate repairs, FOD removal and mitigation, grass management including use of herbicides and shredders, hazardous wildlife mitigation, issuing NOTAMs for non-compliant issues, and assisting the Airport Security Coordinator and Deputy Airport Director in additional duties as applicable.
Examples of additional duties include: semiskilled general labor work in mopping, waxing, and stripping floors; vacuuming carpets, and general facility maintenance and repairs involving light carpentry, electrical, vehicle and machinery maintenance, and HVAC maintenance.
Required Abilities, Licenses, or Certifications:
A valid driver license with a good driving record is required.
Successfully pass a 10-year Criminal History Records Check and Security Threat Assessment.
Required knowledge of: FAR Part 139 Requirements, TSAR 1540 & 1542 Requirements, Records management principles and standards, Basic Microsoft Office, General office equipment and standard computer software applications, Customer service standards and protocol.
Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Undergraduate College level education in Aviation Management, Criminal Justice, Business management, or related field.
Prior airport experience in airport operations, airport maintenance, or other related function in meeting Part 139 compliance.
Some experience in general facility maintenance, plumbing, electrical repairs, floor care, carpentry, painting, and/or pavement maintenance.
Experience operating heavy machinery.
Experience working with basic hand tools.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Work is performed in an outdoor and indoor environment. Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 82 pounds. Driving on active airport movement areas. Exposure to potentially hostile members of the public is involved.
